Year 6 SATs Meeting 2017 - 15th February 2017
Meeting for Year 6 Parent/Carers Only
With school preparation for the children’s SATs beginning already, we’d like to invite you in to school to for a special meeting on the government’s significant changes to the Key Stage 2 tests your child will sit this May!
Taking place between May 8th and 11th, the exams will very different to those taken in past years and we have lots of information that we need to both provide you with and explain to you.
The meeting will give you an opportunity to learn about the different SATs tests your child will have to take (including the chance to look at example papers), the support we currently have in place to help meet the raised expectations of this year and how you too can help prepare and support your child throughout this very important process.
The children have been working very hard, but we know from experience that a real effort this term can make a big difference to the level achieved in May. The KS2 SATs are the beginning of the assessment process that leads to GCSEs, and they have a significant impact on which learning groups your child is placed in at their chosen secondary school.
In the meeting we will cover all aspects of SATs preparation:
- The new format of the 2017 SATs papers and test procedures;
- Assessment without levels in Year 6;
- The teacher assessment system for writing;
- The new arithmetic and reasoning tests in maths;
- How you can help your child to be prepared;
- Expectations of learning in school and at home;
In addition, we will also provide you and your child with a ‘At Home Preparation for SATs Pack’ which includes lists of useful websites, glossaries and spelling lists.
We look forward to seeing you all at 3.30pm on Wednesday, 15th.
