Year 2 2022-2023

Keeping Healthy

In science, year 2 have been learning about keeping healthy. One of the ways to do that is by keeping clean. So we wanted to find out how to keep our hands clean. We pretended that glitter was germs so we covered our hands in glitter. What cleaned our hands the best? Water? Paper towel? Or soap and water? You’ve guessed it… it was good old soap and water! The soap helps the water wash the germs away the best. Super scientists year 2!

Christianity

We have been learning about Christianity on a visit to the Bethel Christian Fellowship.  The children are listening to a Bible story and singing some songs.

Partitioning Numbers

We have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones and counting them carefully!

Creative Writing

We have been working hard in English, preparing for some creative writing about a mystery box. The children are planning what could be inside their box

Pencil, Oil Pastel and Charcoal

We are using three different mediums in Art - pencil, oil pastel and charcoal. We are shading and using different techniques, we have discussed which medium was easiest to work with for this task and how each was different.

Gingerbread Man 

We have been reading the Gingerbread Man.  We are making a story map on our own so we can retell the story in our books.

Sorting Animals

We've been working hard sorting animals and their offspring and talking about their similarities and differences.
